As a director, I love working with plays and playwrights that I can trust down to the punctuation.

I love being able to dissect a script to figure out what has to happen by the end of the scene, so I can put my actors in positions that are as far away from that as possible.

I love active table work. I love asking questions that make bodies active and decided. I love getting my actors to be ruthless. I love characters that contradict themselves.

I also love working on new plays. I am always 100% committed to what’s on the page, so it’s very rewarding to show a playwright exactly what they’ve written. It’s exciting to figure out how to put something up that’s never been done before.
